Match results for Sun 19th Feb.
The rain over the last few days has been heavy and cold. The coarse lake has taken in a lot of icy cold rainwater making the water discoloured and putting the fish off feeding as well as they have been the last few days.
18 anglers braved todays chilly temperatures but at least it was sunny.

Steve North - Ace Reporter

Hi All

As promised my report of a great days Roach fishing.

On Sunday 8th Jan my self and Kevin Trevors fished the large course lake in warm but over cast conditions . Kev fished peg 4 on the pole at 10m on light tackle with single bronze maggot on the hook,He caught 20lb + of top quality roach and a hand full of small perch.

I fished Peg 37 for the first time and started on the good old fashioned Waggler tactics again light tackle was the order of the day and single or double bronze maggot on the hook, after a hour or so and a lot of missed bites i went on to the pole at 6m feeding 3 to 4 maggots every other put in and it was a fish a chuck .
The fish are all sizes from 1oz up to the 1lb and a half mark and all in absolutely fantastic condition i too had 20lb+ and a bonus Common carp of around 3lb and about 20 little perch.

The picture attached is of Kev's bag of roach i didn't get to take a picture of my catch as my battery on my phone was flat  !! Ho Bugger !!

Thanks to Amanda for letting us use Keep nets on the day.

Well worth a visit but remember keep the feed going in little but often.

Cheers

Small Lake Produces Record Carp Numbers

Also check out the latest news page to see what happens when you Fly Fish for Carp!

David and Joshua Kiteley sent us these great pictures of their days' fishing here on the small lake on Friday 3rd June. They both had a superb day and had glorious weather. Between them they caught over 20 Carp, and tench, roach and bream into double catch numbers. Joshua also landed a Chubb weighing just over 3lb. The largest carp out weighed in at 13lb.  Here are David and Joshua with some of their fish caught.

Once again, the Small Coarse Lake seems to be "The Place To Be" as this weekend (Sun 22nd May)  despite the horrendous weather the carp seem to have loved it! Here is a great picture sent in by Kevin Smart from Shipley. It shows Kevin with a 7.5lb Mirror he caught on sweetcorn. As well as this little beauty, he also had a 5lb Common, a 14lb Common and another Mirror at 7lb!

Callum Bags a Beauty!

11 year old Callum Cracknell from Barnoldswick landed this beauty Carp weighing 10lb 2oz from peg 3 on the small coarse lake on Wednesday Evening (13th April). He hooked it and played it all by himself using his pole and a 12 elastic. He fished with meat in the margins and also landed a tench and a golden orfe about 2.5lb!  Well Done Callum!

Paul LaHey fished peg one on the small lake and had over 60 fish out ranging from carp between 1 - 11lb and some tench and roach. He fished about 14m down the right hand side at a depth of about 2.5 feet. The average fish weight worked out about 3lb and his total bag was in excess of 180lb!! He used pellet. (April 2nd)

Ross shows em all how it's done!!

Young Ross Pickles (age 11) showed the other 16 anglers in Sundays match how to fish a match when he came second in the Raygill Open on Sun 20th March.

Ross. who is a South Craven Pupil had a good weight of 22lb 6oz, lost out to Joe Bolland who came first with a bag of 41lb 12oz. Ross was fishing on Peg 8 (the flyer of a peg that the week before, Paul Lahey had had the huge haul of Carp from (see below) on Method Feeder and Corn. It was his first ever match. The guys better watch out cos he is gonna do his best to win next time!

Here is a picture of Ross on his lucky peg.

How's this for a good day's fishing!!!

Paul LaHey was fishing on pole and pellet from peg 8 on the large coarse lake on Monday 7th March. He fished at 16m just over the ledge and bagged 160lb of carp! Here's the proof for all those who say there are no fish in this lake.

The fish are in there, it's up to you to get them out!

Sunday 27th Feb

The small lake has been booked in total for a match

We have the whole of the large lake to play on though. Just turn up for this lake, we do not take single bookings for the large lake.

Wednesday 9th Feb 2011

Something for the weekend?!

The small coarse lake is fishing well this week. One angler had 3 tench, 2 carp and 4 roach. Another had 3 tench, 3 carp and 4 roach. These were all on double red maggot close in, fishing off the shelf of pegs 5 & 6

2 of the tench were about 3lb in weight and these are not only good weights for these fish but also unusual as not many tench show at this time of year.   Is it a sign of good times to come?

So, get yourself up on the small lake this weekend for a change to the Large one and see what comes out!
